New Book About D-Day Is Available!

D-Day: Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen Tell about Normandy is the first book in my new World War II Insider series. Its publication has been timed to coincide with the upcoming 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France.

Hull stand wing
Harrison Hull of Ft Wayne, IN, served as an aircraft mechanic for planes that flew over Normandy during the invasion.

D-Day: Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen Tell About Normandy is a compilation of stories from veterans who fought on Normandy Beaches with the U.S. Army, Navy, and Army Air Corps.

The book’s title comes from a phrase General Dwight D. Eisenhower used in his talk to soldiers the night before the Normandy invasion: “Soldiers, sailors, and airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force, you are about to embark upon the Great Crusade!”

Lemaster (3)
Don LeMaster was assigned to a quartermaster unit that maintained Army trucks and obtained supplies for troops at Normandy.

This book is designed as an introductory guide of D-Day. Examples of stories included in the book are those of a pilot who was shot down and held as a POW until the end of the war; a sailor who volunteered for a special project that put him in front of German guns; and a military chaplain’s service to troops before being injured.

Many never-before-published photographs are included inside and on the front and back covers. This book along with my other World War II books are available on Amazon.

Please consider purchasing copies and writing reviews on the book’s Amazon page. The more reviews, the higher rankings the book will receive, enabling more readers to find it.

More books in the World War II Insider series will be published in coming months to honor 75th anniversaries of Battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa and the end of the war.

    1. Thanks for your support. You’re always there with a kind word– or several! I appreciate your interest. I plan to write a couple of titles about the Pacific in 2020. Stay tuned!
