This year like most other groups, our family Thanksgiving season is different from past years. We can’t include my mother who lives in a nursing home. Our daughter who teaches school doesn’t feel safe being around people. We accept those limitations as our goal is to be part of the solution, not part of the virus problem. So we will make do and go without their presence at our gathering, though we will deeply miss them.
Still, I’m thankful for so much that it will be a meaningful time. Here are a few of the many things in my life that enrich it:
Healthcare workers on every level taking care of people who have been ill. I don’t live in fear of death because of you.
Law-enforcement workers. I don’t live in fear of going outside of my home due to your presence.

Pastors and religious leaders. I don’t live in fear of ‘the valley of the shadow of death’ because of your teaching and belief that God has everything in His hands.

People who support my writing. Sometimes I wonder if all of the effort is worth it. Then I’ll get a nice email or card in the mail from someone who tells me to keep it up, so I do.

My family for hanging together through all of this. You make every day worth it.

Active and retired military for the freedoms we have. I hate to think where we would be without all of you.
My husband who is faithful, hard-working and devoted to God, family and country. I couldn’t have asked for more in a marriage that has lasted 40 years.
Thanks to God for allowing me to make mistakes daily but still making room for me at the throne of God.
My plans are to continue writing about American history in 2021. We all know that those who don’t know their history are doomed to repeat its mistakes.
I hope you all have a grand Thanksgiving.
Thanks for a great reminder that we have much to be thankful for.
I admit, some days are easier to be thankful than others. At least I’m trying to get to a daily thankful heart. You’re a precious friend.
Happy Thanksgiving to you GP!
Thank you Kayleen. Some wonderful thoughts to remind us how blessed we are. It is so easy to be complacent and take these blessings for granted .
Sally: You’re welcome! I get downhearted sometimes, too, but try to keep in mind that what we have is precious. Thanks for your support and your family’s military service.
