Lancaster Elementary students love to read!

I was privileged today to speak to 4th graders at Lancaster Elementary School outside of Bluffton, Indiana. This is a special school to me as my mom taught there for many years and all three of my kids attended there! My niece went there as well. It’s a great school with great teachers and staff and students.

I spoke about what it was like to write my nine children’s books and the students asked great questions:

Which book did you write first (Taylor Swift for Grades 4-8)

How long does it take to write a book? (3 months or so)

Recipe and Craft Guide to Indonesia (Mitchell Lane 2011) contains 10 crafts and 10 recipes for Grades 4-8.

Who gets the photos for the books? (the publisher provides them to me and I write the captions)

It was great fun and I hope to do it again sometime.

Please let me know if you’d like me to speak at your school or event. I’m available to speak to adults and children on a variety of topics, including writing, living the Christian life and working with a charity (I co-founded Stitches of Hope. Learn more at  www.stitchesofhope1.blogspot.com).

Tonight I speak to a group of teens. Watch for a post about that event in coming days!

Happy weekend!
