The news about the devastating fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was and still is staggering.
We toured this lovely facility in 2017 during our World War II tour of Europe.
It was a Sunday and Mass was being held. Our Parisian guide told us we were allowed to take photos inside the cathedral but there should be no talking out of respect for those worshiping.
That was fine with our group as the massive interior, quiet atmosphere and loveliness of the stained glass windows and statues, candles, etc. evoked an attitude of reverence and respect.
I’m not of the Catholic faith, but I appreciate what it would be like to lose this religious structure, both for the people who worshiped there and people around the world. Notre Dame has been a beautiful symbol of culture and mouth-dropping architecture since built in the 1300s.
I’m praying for the people who worshiped there and the residents of Paris. It will be a difficult time for many. Please share your comments about Notre Dame, especially if you’ve been there.
Thank you for these pictures and your postings🇺🇸👍
